Every Will We Write Is Now Registered with the National Will Register

If you’ve made your Will with ELM, or you’re thinking about doing so, we have some good news.

Every Will we have ever written is now registered with the National Will Register, and every Will we prepare in future will be too, at no extra cost to you.

What does this mean for you?

A Will can only do its job if it can be found. Without a clear, independent record of where it’s stored, families and executors can be left searching at exactly the moment they need certainty most. Research from the National Will Register’s 2024 National Wills Report found that 53% of people in the UK haven’t spoken to anyone about their wishes, which means that for many families, simply knowing a Will exists can make an enormous difference.

Registration means that when the time comes, your loved ones won’t have to guess. There will always be a secure, searchable record of where your Will is held, so your family can focus on what matters, not on chasing paperwork.

It also means your wishes are far more likely to be carried out as you intended. Estates administered without a clear record of the most recent Will can result in unnecessary delays, expense, and distress for families. Registration is one of the simplest ways to prevent that.
